The Top TEN footballers moments of on pitch madness

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp said his side were left with an “impossible task” after being reduced to 10 men in their 4-0 defeat by Real Madrid on Tuesday. Peter Crouch was sent off after 14 minutes of the Champions League quarter-final first leg following two bookings for two rash challenges, and Spurs now have a mountain to climb in order to qualify for the semi-finals having fallen to such a heavy defeat.

Crouch’s overzealousness clearly cost his team dear, and got me thinking about other rash decisions footballers have made, costing themselves and their teams in the process. Here is a collection of moments that have both shocked and amused in equal measure…
